<br />Page 4 - August 22, 2006 New Brighton Council Minutes <br /> <br />Director of Community Development, Grant Femelius explained the amendments <br />Idress a number of issues and presented a brief summary. <br /> <br />ouncil Member Doffing requested an explanation of "Foregoing their rights for <br />velopment." <br />Mr. Femelius stated that Sherman Associates has the rights to develop an Office <br />Project on the former Keys Restaurant site. That right runs through December 31, <br />2006. Part of the amended agreement states that the developer has agreed to give <br />up those development rights, that means that once this amendment is executed <br />the City has the right to market that site to other developers. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Bauman, seconded by Council Member Hoffman to <br />approve the resolution authorizing the execution and delivery of the First <br />Amendment to Amended and Restated Contracts for Private Redevelopment between <br />the City and each of the Rottlund Company, Inc. and Sherman Associates, Inc. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br /> <br />3. Consideration of Proposal to Demolish Structures at 715 Old <br />Highway 8 NW and 389 Old Highway 8 NW. Report No. 06-193. <br /> <br />_ssistant Director of Community Development, David Black explained that 4 <br />roposals were received; the lowest bid was from Roger Peterson Construction of <br />laine. <br /> <br />Council Member Doffmg requested an explanation regarding the purchase of <br />Harry's bar. <br />Mr. Black explained that in a prior plan, that location may have been considered for <br />redevelopment. In late 2002, the owner of Harry's bar approached the City, for the <br />sale of his property. The City purchased the property for approximately $140,000 <br />in March 2003. <br />Conncil Member Doffing questioned weather there was a plan for the property. <br />Mayor Larson explained that at the time council decided it was a fair purchase <br />price, explaining it was an investment to have control of the property. <br />Mayor Larson suggested a work session at a later date to review the Old Highway 8 <br />conidor plan from that time. <br />Council Member Doffing questioned how Harry's Bar fit into a plan in the south <br />end of town. <br />Mr. Femelius explained. there was an Old Highway 8 study done in both in 1986 <br />and again in 1997, offering to provide the council with that material. <br />Council Member Bauman questioned the Comprehensive plan from 1997, Mr. <br />llack explained there was no link between the comprehensive plan and the <br />urchase of Harry's bar. <br />s. Troha explained that there are two separate plans, a comprehensive plan and <br />an Old Highway 8 corridor plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Hoffman, seconded by Council Member Burg to award <br />the demolition contract for 715 and 389 Old Highway 8 NW to Roger Peterson <br /> <br />3. Consideration of Proposal <br />to Demolish Structures at <br />7IS Old Highway 8 NW and <br />389 Old Highway 8 NW. <br />Report No. 06-193. <br />
