<br />Page 5 - September 11, 2006 New Brighton Council Minutes <br /> <br />attempt to look into the budget issues earlier in the year. <br />ICting City Manager Jacobson expressed his appreciation to Dan Maiers and all <br />taff for diligently working on the 2007 budget. <br />ayor Larson shared information he received from the League of Minnesota Cities <br />lating to the per capita amount paid in taxes in our neighboring cities. <br />Council Member Bauman indicated that at the council retreat in February it was <br />determined to meet regularly with the department heads, and would request to <br />follow through with that. <br />Ms Bauman stated that with the exception of the fleet/non-fleet omission from the <br />original budget, the actual decrease is 3%, and that is unacceptable to her. <br />Council Member Hoffman stated that the results of the resident survey will be <br />beneficial in final budget preparations. <br />Council Member Burg stated the importance of balance in the quality of life with <br />the tax burden, and suggested the council be cautious in the cuts they make. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Adoption of the Proposed 2007 Lake Diane Tax Levy. <br />Report No. 06-211. Resolution No. 06-091. <br /> <br />Director of Finance Dan Maiers explained that the City is required to submit the <br />proposed maximum tax levy to the County by September 15, 2006. <br /> <br /> <br />lotion by Conneil Member Doff'mg, seconded by Council Member Hoffman to <br />Waive the reading and adopt the proposed tax levy for taxes payable in2007 for <br />Lake Diane storm sewer improvement taxing district. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports. Announcements. and Updates <br />Municipal Advisory Commission Reports: <br /> <br />Council Member Mroy Burg - Public Safety Commission <br />Council Member Burg reported that Mike Lochen began his duties as Detective <br />on September 5th, following Bill Sorter's retirement. A blood drive was held on <br />September 6, resulting in the collection of 32 pints of blood. Two new Police <br />Officers were sworn in on September 11th, Aaron Slack and Carla Cincotta. The <br />New Brighton / Mounds View Rotary Club suppot Project Lifesaver with a <br />donation of $2,000. A Citizens Police Academy is scheduled. Vohmteers in <br />Public Safety contributed 6000 hours of service. <br /> <br />lourrcll Member Ann Hoffman - Parks, Recreation, and Envirorunental Commission <br />Council Member Hoffman reported that the Disc Golf course issues with parking <br />and conduct are being addressed by Director of Parks and Recreation Sandy <br />Breuer. Ms. Hoffman also acknowledged the 5th Anniversary of the attacks of <br />911, and expressed appreciation and condolences. <br /> <br />3.
