<br />Council Proceedings <br />City Qf New Brighton <br />F'eb.6010, 1976 <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Attorney stated hearing was properly called <br />The City Manager noted that the Council had received <br />a complete application meeting all ordinance <br />requirements relative toa liquor license. <br />The Building and Planning Coordinator reviewed the <br />building and plat plans for the proposed restaurant. <br />Mr. Ken Nordby, architect for the applicant, reviewed /-~ <br />.. h Stockman1s ') <br />the ~nter1or layout for t e proposed restaurant_ <br />Mr. Jack v.7elsh, applicant, stated that he had been it( Restaurant / <br />the restaurant business for most of his life and that ./" <br />this proposed restaurant would involve $300 to $350 '.....'---~--_./ <br />thousand dollar expenditure. Letter-Salem <br />Motion by Werdouschegg, seconded by Fisher to receive Baptist <br />letter from Salem Baptist Church, dated Feb.9, 1976 Church <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes- carried <br /> <br />Liquor <br />License <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Schable, 2113 29th Avenue N.W., stated <br />opposition to the proposed liquor license. He noted that other <br />businesses in the area were in trouble and that this <br />restaurant may not be able to make it at this site. <br />He further expressed concern with additional traffic <br />in the area and that he dij not feel it wise to locate <br />such a facility in the area. <br /> <br />Ellen citron, 2712 Rice Creek Terrace, presented a <br />petition to the Council <br />Motion by Werdouschegg. seconded by Fisher to receive <br />petition <br />5 ayes - 0 naye - carried <br /> <br />Dr. Carl Christenson, 2892 Rice Creek Terrace, opposed the <br />concept of placing a liquor establishment in this area <br />noting concerns with pedestrian safety and the proximity <br />of the site bordering residential area. <br /> <br />Bill Sherman, 29th Avenue and ~ississippi Street, <br />stated opposition to the license, reiterating the <br />effect on residential area and the danger to the <br />children in the area. <br /> <br />Robert Fellegy, 2746 Rice Creek Terrace, stated that <br />there was a large number of restaurants close to this <br />location and that this restaurant was, therefore, not needed. <br />He additionally expressed concern about the proposed <br />location of the restaurant in a residential area. <br />
