Council Consideration
LP-37
November 9, 1976

Request: Council Authorization of Building Permit for construction
of addition to existing rendering plant.

Applicant: Gordon Rendering

Location: 19 - 14th St. NE

Size of Addition: 18' x 30' = 540 square feet

Heiqht of Addition: 18' (to match existing rendering plant)

Exterior Treatment: Break-off or decorative block

Discussion:

The applicant is requesting a building permit to construct
an addition to their existing rendering plant. The addition would
be to the west side of the plant itself. The applicant has indi-
cated that the addition is needed to accommodate their boiler room.
The applicant has further indicated that the proposed addition
would provide the rendering plant with much needed internal space
and would also present a much safer operation for their boiler.

The site plan is complete and contains the required information.

The landscape plan is also complete and contains the required
information. We would note that the applicant has indicated that it
is their intention to provide six trees immediately west of the
proposed addition. These trees or plantings have not, however,
been included on the applicant's plans. The Council may want to
condition any approval for the building permit on the applicant
providing this landscaping.

In regards to landscaping, we would note that the applicant
has recently provided additional landscaping both on the north
part of the property directly in front of the decorative fence
and also on the western part of their paved area directly in front
of their aereation basin and their holding basin. This landscaping
includes ash trees and also a row of shrubs.
