.

.

.

"

t.-"

~

Oct 10,2006

Jeanna Troah
Acting city manager New Brighton Mn

As you may be aware, the residents of 12th Avenue N.W. on the south end of Hansen
Park near the disc golf course have been having problems with parking on the street in
front of our homes, especially those closest to the park. It has be<:ome very difficult to
move in and our of our driveways as cars line both sides of the street; cars are parked in
front of mailboxes and mail is not delivered, and the cul.de.sac is lined with cars, making
it impossible for any large vehicle to turn around (especially emergency vehicles).

We have been working with the Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Commission to
alleviate the problem, and as a result of our discussions and attendance at the meetings,
the layout of the course was changed, and a sign was put on the cul.de-sac informing
golfers that the course begins with Hole I at the east side parking lot, with directions to
that lot. It has helped somewhat, but there still are too many golfers who continue to park
on 12th Avenue. This is a daily occurrence, and some days there are up to 15 cars parked
on the street.

We are now requesting City Council ,approval for restricted parking on 12th Avenue
between County Road E on the south to and including the cul-de-sac on the north, with
the exception of four existing parking spaces on the cul.de.sac.

We would like the posting to read: RESIDENT PARKING ONLY - PERMIT
REQUIRED.

Presently, we have no control over the parking. We are of the understanding that if the
Council would approve this restriction, we could go ahead with posting the signs next
season if all other attempts should fail again.
