Staff noted that there is an existing 1611 watermain running north and south which is directly west of the proposed townhouses. The City Engineer has recommended because of the size of the watermain that no units be within twenty (20) feet of the watermain. Because the site plan shows that the townhouses are located within 5 feet of the watermain the plan'should be altered. Council Representative Blomquist commented that the proposed 75 foot strip of land west of the townhouses would serve little purpose to the City for park land. He preferred that the townhouse development extend to the western property line and be moved further to the south to provide,J:Or a 5 acre park. "" ....;,. .... . . Chairman'Leverkuhn reviewed the proposed resolution prepared by staff and informed the residents present that the Board would be considering the resolution. ' David Swenson, 1693 3rd Street S.W. commented that he liked this proposal over any of the others that were considered. He also made the following comments: 1. That he preferred that the tennis court be relocated west of the ballfield if possible; 2. That the park property be deeded to the City; 3. That the boundary line for the park be as close to the existing school on the north side~ as possible. 4. That the necessary grading be undertaken to relocate the winter play area; 5~ That Silver Lane be extended. KeithOslander, area resident~ questioned the number of units out- side the condomium, who was going to use the pa~king lot along Oakwood Drive, and if there is going to be parking for the park us e rs . Mike Grimshaw of the Park Board~ ~tated that he was also concerned over par.king for park users. ' Council Representative Blomquist noted that he felt some parking should be available for park users on the site. - Nancy Oslander, area resident~ stated she and the residents she had talked to.werein favor of the plan and that she hoped the details could be worked out. . David Van Hatten, of the Park Board stated that a consideration could be to arrange the garages in such a manner to enclose the tennis courts. .
