ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING OF CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT

A. EXISTING
LAND USE

B. ADJACENT
LAND USE

II
I

The proposed Windsor Center site is vacant. Its
major cultural function is visual open space. As
noted previously the site has been used as a con-
struction material dump and more recently as an
unauthorized nature study area.

The site is surrounded by a diversity of land use
including, open space, residential and commercial
as can be noted in Figure 8. A gas station is
situated immediately northwest of the site, at
the southeast corner of Silver Lake Road and
County Road E. A neighborhood shopping complex
is located across from the service station on the
northeast corner of County Road E and Silver Lake
Road. The complex contains a 7-Eleven convenience
store and a dry cleaners, fronting on County Road
E, and an optician's shop and Chinese takeout
restaurant along Silver Lake Road. A Country Club
Supermarket is located immediately north of the
7-Eleven complex on Silver Lake Road. Along County
Road E, east of the 7-Eleven complex are two, two-
story brick apartment buildings. To their east is
the L-K Ranch. Although the residence on the pro-
perty is currently rented and occupied, there has
been no ranch activities for the past 2 years. The
property is currently for sale. East of the ranch,
along County Road E, is another grouping of six,
two-story apartment buildings with open space wet-
land stretching to the east. On the south side of
County Road E, directly east and abutting the site
is a 5.5 acre parcel of land currently undergoing
grading for residential development. Thirty-four
duplex and multi-family units are to be constructed

I
, I
I
I
I

IV-l
