The Windsor Green townhouse/condominium area consisting of 245 one to three bedroom dwelling units lies immediately to the south of the site. Windsor Green, built in 1968, is a well established townhouse development. Included in the Windsor Green properties are two ponds, one of which fronts on Silver Lake Road, south of the subject parcel. The Windsor 'Green residential area is governed by the Windsor Green Homeowners Association. A majority of the Windsor Green residents are opposed to the development of Windsor Center and petitioned the Minnesota Envi- ronmental Quality Council to order an Environmen- tal Assessment on the Windsor Center project. Directly south of the larger pond in the Windsor Green Development and fronting on Silver Lake Road, are the offices of Bermal-Smaby Realtors. To the east of Windsor Green are more conventional single family subdivisions. I West and southwest of the subject parcel, along the west side of Silver Lake Road and the south side of County Road E, is the Salvation Army's Silver Lake Nature Camp. This 150 acre facility is primarily open space, but also includes a park center and has temporary living quarters for ap- proximately 100 visitors. The camp is a local and regional resource providing services to many under- privileged, handicapped and senior citizens through- out the Metropolitan Area and the state, as well accommodating visitors from other states and sev- eral foreign countries.
