March l5, 1978

FROM:

James Winkels, city Planner

Leslie Proper, Director of Public Works ~

MEMO TO:

SUBJECT:

Sanitary sewer under proposed addition to
l2ll Old Highway #8

We have reviewed the site plan for the office/warehouse building
at l2ll Old Highway #8. We would not object to the proposal if
the owner would be willing to re-lay that portion of the existing
sanitary sewer under the proposed addition with a-inch diameter
Class 52 ductile iron pipe. The sewer will have to be re-layed
from the manhole on the north to l5 feet south of the south
building line. This should not be too expensive for the
developer as he will have to excavate half way to the sewer
for the footings anyway. There are not many connections up
stream from this lot and there should be no problems in putting
the sewer out of service to re-lay it.-We would require that
we be notified to inspect the installation. We would also
assist in putting the main out of service and providing the
line and grade stakes for installation.

Although I do not like the idea of buildings being built over
our sanitary sewers, this property is badly severed by location
of this sewer main.

If the owner is willing to re-lay the sewer with iron pipe
as recommended above, we can live with this situation.

LP:rl

cc- T.
