<br />IcounCiI Meeting Minutes <br />September 25. 1990 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Williams shares Brandt Rebelein's concerns, but feels the zoning ordinance <br />provides the guarantee that Council approval would only be allowed if <br />certain criteria are met. Mattila said the setback standards for mixed <br />commercial uses are very strict when commercial abut residential uses. <br /> <br />Williams asked about commercial users abutting office users. Mattila <br />stated certain setback requirements would still be required, Williams then <br />recommended the proposed language for the plan be changed from <br />"Commercial and Residential" to "All Development". <br /> <br />Council recommended the following rewording: "All development on the <br />property should be interrelated through complimentary design methods, <br />landscaping, and walking paths." Brandt Rebelein suggested the mixed <br />commercial uses portion be adopted with the exception of the reference to <br />restaurants. Williams asked if a restaurant would have to be listed in the <br />plan to be considered for the site in the future. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney, confirmed it would not have to be listed <br />in the plan. Mattila added that not every type of mixed commercial use <br />would have to be listed in the plan amendment in order to be considered in <br />the future. <br /> <br />Mattila said New Brighton's Updated Comprehensive Plan was the first <br />Updated Comprehensive Plan to be approved by Metropolitan Council in <br />the seven county area. <br /> <br />Motion by Brandt Rebelein, seconded by Williams, WAIVE THE READING <br />AND ADOPT THE RESOLUTION APPROVING THE UPDATED <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Orduno explained that the community center referendum requires that at <br />least three Councilmembers canvass the election results. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Williams, Brandt Rebelein, Larson, and Gunderman <br />indicated they would attend the Special Council Meeting on November 7. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Brandt Rebelein asked if the proposed replacement of the storm sewer at <br />Brightwood Hills Golf Course is included in the 1990 budget. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Adoption of Updated <br />Comprehensive Plan <br />Report 90-208 <br />Resolution 90-081 <br /> <br />Canvass of Election <br />Results <br />Report 90-203 <br /> <br />Golf Course Storm <br />Sewer QUote Results <br />Report 90-202 <br />
