GENERAL NOTES

1.

Existing boundary, location, topographic, and
utility information shown on this plan is from
a field survey by Sundo Land Surveying, Inc.
dated 917/93.

2.

The locations of utilities shown are
approximate only. Other utilities may exist
which have not been shown. The Contractor
shall contact GOPIlER STATE ONE CAll at
454-0002 for exact locations before
beginning any construction.

3.

All proposed spot elC!vations shown arc to
bottom of curb unless otherwise indicated.

~

All ulility work sh<lll be performed in
accordance wilh the City of New Brighton
Spp.cific3Iions.

5.

At the perimeter of pavement removal areas,
the existing bilUminous or CQncrale surfacing
shall be saw. cut

6

Tile casting used on C[3 1/4 and CO 115 shall
be a Neenah 11.1733 frame witll Type "C"
radial grate, or approved equal

7.

The Contractor shall maintain 75ft. cover
above top of wCltermain. A minimum vertical
sep, lration of 18 inches is required .1t all
watermain and sewermain crossings. A
minimum horizontal separation of 10 feet is
required between all watermain and
sewermain.

6.

It shall be the responsibility of the exterior
utility contractor to coordinate building utility
connections at 5 ft. out from the proposed
building with the interior plumbing contractor.

9.

All manhole and catch basin structures shall
be pre.cast reinforced concrete with 4 fl.
inside diameters unless otherwise indicated.

10.

All ductile iron pipe shall be Class 52 D.I.P.

11.

The Contractor shall notify the Engineer of
any discrepancies.

12.

Polyethylene encasement is required on all
watermain.

13.

Utilitv Trench Comoaction Reauirements:
95% Standard Proctor maximum dry density
IASTM 0696-78 or AASllTO T.99) from the
pipe zone to within 3 feet of the ground
surface, and 100% Standard Proctor
maximum dry density in the final 3 feet.

The Contractor shall provide density tests in
backfills and fills placed beneath footings,
slabs, and pavements. At least one
compaction test shall be provided for every
100 feet of trench at vertical intervals not
exceeding two feet.

EROSION CONTROL

1.

The contractor shall install erosion control
fence at the locations shown on the plans
prior to beginning construction. Silt fence
installed without a supporting fence shall be
installed with post spacing of 4 feet or less.
Posts shall be 2 inch square or larger
hardwood, pine. or standard T- or U-section
steel posts. T- or U.seclion steel posts shall
weigh not less than 1.0 Ib per lineal foot.
Posts should be placed or driven at least 2
feet into the ground and shall have a
minimum length of 30 inches plus burial
derth.

The fahric shall be anchored in a trench dug
on the upslope side of the support posts. 1he
trench shall be at least 6 inches deep and 6
inches wide. The fabric shall be laid in the
Hench, and then the trench shall be backfilled
and compacted.

Erosion control fence filter fabric shall be
MillAr:! 100X, or approved equal, furnished in
a continuous roll in order to avoid splices.
When a splice is necessary, it shall be made
at a fence post. At splices, the fabric shall be
overlapped at lenst 6 inches, folded over, and
securely fastened to the fence post.

2.

Temoorarv Rock Construction Entrances: A
rock pad shall be located at all points where
vehicles exit the construction site. The rock
pads must be installed before grading begins
on the site. The rock size should be 1 to 2
inch diameler such as MNDOT CA. 1 or
MNDOT CA-2 coarse aggregale. The
aggregate should be placed in a layer at least
6 inches thick across the entire width of the
entrance. The rock entrance should extend at
least 50 feet into the construction lone. A
geotextile fabric may be used under the rock
in order to prevent migration of soil into the
rock.

3.

The Contractor shall remove all soils and
sediments tracked or otherwise depOSited
onto pavement areas. Removal shall be on a
daily basis throughout the duration of the
construction. Paved roadways shall be
cleaned by shoveling or sweeping. Street
washing shall be allowed only after sediment
has been removed by Shoveling or sweepino.

~,

Sediment Filters: A Illock and Rock Inlet
Sediment Filter shall be installed at all
catchbasin inlets which receive rllnoff from
disturbed areas, Block and Rock Inlet Filters
consist of open-core concrete masonry
blocks, wire screen (0.5" openings!. and
washed rock. Open-core concrete masonry
blocks are placed lengthwise on their sides
around the catchbasin inlet. Wire screen is
placed around the perimeter to the top of the
block barrier before the rock is placed. The
screen acts to prevent rocks from being
washed through the blocks. Rock is placed
against the wire mesh to the top of the
blocks. The rock size should be 1 to 3 inch
diameter such as MNDOT CA.l, CA.2, or CA-
3 Coarse Aggregate. Two rows of 8" blocks
should be used in order to form a barrier
height of 16".

q

/L

c

- -

. - -- - --

-- --- -

. - - -- -.-

--

-

--

-

--- - - - -- - -. - - -

5.

All denuded areas which have been finished
graded, and all denuded areas for which other
grading or site building construction
operations are not actively underway shall be
permanently or temporarily stabilized against
erosion due to rain, wind, and running water
within 14 days. Stabilization methods include
seeding and mulching, sodding, and the early
application of gravel base on areas to be
paved.

All denuded areas which will not be paved
shall be covered with a minimum of 4" of
topsoil immediately <lftcr rinal subgradc
completion. These meas shall then be seeded
and mulched, or sodded and staked, within
72 hours after comptetion of final grading
work (weather permitting!.
