<br />I <br /> <br />'I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held <br />Tuesday, November 28, 1989, at 7:32 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Gunderman, Councilmembers Brandt, larson, and Williams (7:33 <br />p.m. ) <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />David Childs, City Manager <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Les Proper, Public Works Director <br /> <br />Council Minutes - None <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Gunderman, with Council consent, received the minutes of the <br />Environmental Quality Commission - October 11, 1989; Air Quality <br />Board - October 17, 1989; Planning Commission - October 17, 1989; <br />and Economic Development Commission - OctQber 26, 1989. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />The National League of Cities is sponsoring a nationwide campaign <br />decl ari ng the week of December 3-9, 1989, as Citi es Fi ght Back <br />Aga i nst Drugs Week. Ci ties are bei ng asked to pass a reso 1 uti on <br />proclaiming the week, mayors are asked to write President Bush, and <br />other activities are encouraged for recognition of the week. <br /> <br />An anti-drug poster contest involving the New Brighton area <br />elementary schools is a proposed activity. Brandt encouraged staff <br />to include in the contest other elementary schools that New Brighton <br />children attend, but are not within the New Brighton City Limits. <br />Police Chief Kelley will investigate including these schools. <br /> <br />Motion by Brandt, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT <br />THE RESOLUTION DECLARING DECEMBER 3-9. 1989.
