.~ PLANNING REPORT DATE: February 15, 2000 CASE: LP-362 SUBJECT: Site Plan Review -Totem Pole, Sunny Square, Freedom and Hanson Park APPLICANT: City of New Brighton REQUEST & BACKGROUND To consider four (4) site plan reviews for construction of new park shelter facilities in Totem Pole, Sunny Square, Freedom and Hanson Park. The attached map identifies the locations of each of the individual parks. _.~-, As part of the Comprehensive Park Planning which took place over the last couple years, improvements are planned within many of New Brighton's parks. The first phase of that plan is to tear down and reconstruct the park shelter buildings at Totem Pole, Sunny Square, Freedom and Hanson Park. No building facility will be relocated, each new building will sit in the same location as the existing facilities. „~,., Per Section 8-010, all building plans for construction of new buildings or additions to any building or structure other than single and double family residences, shall require review by the Planning Commission and City Council. The following report is a review of each of these parks. The current plan is to only construct new park shelter buildings and provide landscaping around each. The landscape plans have not been prepared at this time, however, each park will contain upgrades to the existing landscaping. Said landscaping shall be subject to review and approval of the City Forester, who will be responsible for maintenance. ~ At this time there will be no revisions to parking lots, therefore, the Planning Commission is asked to only consider the building improvements. If the parking lots are reconfigured and setbacks are an issue, the item would be brought back for Planning Commission and City Council review. Each building will contain a perimeter landscape. Specific plans have not yet been completed, however, the landscaping will be an improvement to the existing sites. Said plans shall be subject to review and approval of the City Forester, who will be responsible for maintenance. 3.
