<br />, , <br /> <br />council Proceedings <br />City of New Brighton <br />l".p::::-il 9, 1974 <br /> <br />Xotion by Rebelein, seconded by Anderson to continue <br />hearing on Street Graphics until April 23, 815 <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - carried ~. <br /> <br />Attorney stated hearing was properly called. <br />Mr. Les Pheiffer and Marshal Everson, representing <br />the petitioner, were present to answer council <br />questions. In response to council question, he stated <br />that a fence in the play area had not been ruled out. <br />It was asked whether a poll had been conducted of the <br />occupants of the Polynesian Village r~lative to the <br />school and day care center. The representatives <br />indicated that such a poll had not been conducted <br />although the management and owner of the building had <br />requested a school in the complex and it was estimated <br />that 30% of the children would come from the Polynesian <br />Village. <br /> <br />Mr. Fritz Werdouschegg asked whether the school would be <br />a profit making venture and the representative responded <br />that it would. Mr. Werdouschegg also expressed concern <br />as to whether this school would have an effect on the <br />Montessori School now conducted at the United Church of <br />Christ. Mr. Dorvan Moen stated that the school at <br />the United Church of Christ was a temporary arrangement. <br />Mr. Vernon Vic~, abutting property o~ner, requested <br />further information relative to the operation of the <br />school. A representative indicated that it would be <br />a l2-months program for ages 2~ to 6; there would be <br />two Montessori sessions per day plus day care. They <br />noted that the program was educationally oriented more <br />than recreationally oriented. <br />Motion by Eagon, seconded by Fisher to approve SP-54 <br />with the following conditions: <br />1. That the special use permit become effective only <br />upon State approval of the license for the school; <br />2. That 4 parking stalls adjacent to the building 1219 <br />be signed and reserved for the school's parking <br />during the hours of operation of the school: <br />3. That the council requires the installation of a <br />fence in the play area; howeyer, it reserves <br />determination of when the fence is to be <br />installed to a future date; <br />4.
