<br />EXCAVATION PLANNING <br /> <br />PROJECT: <br /> <br />Edward R. Kraemer and Sons Burnsville Quarry <br />Master Plan Update, Burnsville, Minnesota <br /> <br />Edward R. Kraemer and Sons Minnesota Division, <br />Burnsville, Minnesota <br /> <br />CLlENT: <br /> <br />This plan was developed for Kraemer's extensive limestone quarries <br />located on the Minnesota River in Burnsville. The update was made <br />necessary due to the expansion of Kraemer hol~ings and changes in <br />easements and surrounding development. The quarry areas involve <br />several hundred acres of excavation to depths of 50 feet or more. <br />The end use of the quarry area is planned as an industrial barge <br />harbor to be surrounded by various industrial users of the River. <br />The plan was welcomed by the Corps of Engineers as a long term <br />solution of barge fleeting on the ~innesota River. <br /> <br />'L <br /> <br />PROJECT: <br /> <br />Arnt Mining Beam Avenue Borrow Site) Maplewood, <br />Minnesota <br /> <br />eLIENT: <br /> <br />Gene Arnt <br /> <br />This project called for the removal of approximately 625)000 <br />cubic yards of material from a 22.2 acre site. BRW prepared the <br />master plan for the borrow operation including alternative end-use <br />housing subdivision schemes. The master plan was used to obtain a <br />special use permit from the City of Maplewood, a county permit, a <br />watershed district permit, and excavation permits. The plan <br />involved site and neighborhood analysis development of an <br />operation plan, soil investigation, opinion as to water table <br />stability through excavation) settling basin design, and <br />revegetation studies and planning. <br />
