<br />~" '. <br /> <br />Minnesota Transportaton Museum <br /> <br />The Minnesota Transportation Museum (MTM) is an all-volunteer <br />non-profit organization that was formed for the purpose of <br />finding~ restoring, and operating vintage transportation <br />equipment for the education and the enjoyment of the public as a <br />remindet of d~ys gone by. While they are the group that <br />restored Engine 328 and have operated the vintage steam train <br />for the last two years at New Brighton's stockyard Days, they <br />are probably b~stknown for the restoration of Streetcar No. <br />1300 and the operation of the Lake Harriet Line. <br /> <br />TheMTM will maint~~n an.outdoor static 'display ~ft~eir ..' <br />restored railroad equipment. In ~ddition ~o restoring an~ <br />displaying equipment, they will operate excursion trips for the <br />public on weekends during the summer. Depending upon ridership, <br />these weekend excursions will vary fro~ three or four per year <br />to not more than twice each month during the summer season. <br /> <br />The site will serve as the home base for the MTM. It is here <br />. 'that they will maintain a storage' bu.ilding for their' rolling <br />stock and rai,lroad equipment. In addi tibn they' will have a <br />restoration ~hop. <br /> <br />New Brighton Area Historical Society <br /> <br />The Soo Line has donated their depot in New Brighton to the New <br />Brighton Area Historical Society. The Society intends to move <br />the depot to the site and to restore it to its former grandeur. <br />The ticket office and waiting room will be used in connection <br />with the MTM weekend excursion trips. The living quarters in <br />the depot may be used by the Society as a museum. <br />
