Ladies and Gentleman: I feel 'a strong need to respond to the letter written by the owner of the Wardrobe, Phyllis Kedl dated October 20th, 1982. first of all she wrote her letter on behalf of all the merchants of the Rice Creek Center, most of whom knew nothing about such a letter. Mrs. Kedl based her letter on the assumption that there is no need for kids to frequent center or to use its services, not realizing that kids, just as adults, need the services of the center ie. hair- cutters, optometrists, the gift shop, clothing stores, pizza shoppe, dentists etc. Most of all she overlooked the most important factor that the Shopping Center is located in a family oriented neighborhood where there will ALWAYS be kids. She has questioned the meaning of the Amusement Center rules stating that they are broad general statements which are hard to define. If that were the case she must have had extreme tlifficulty being a tea- cher as they also have many similar rules that they must enforce. It seems that she doesn't want to give kids credit for their acquired social norms and in essence is questioning the integrity of their parents. '" MI'~, Kedl gQe~ not live in the city of New Brighton and its so, amazing that in four short weeks of the Wardrobes existence that she has come to the conclusion that the kids in the neighborhood are gangsters and in her opinion the only one that can keep them in line is a Gorrilla for a guard. I have a petition signed by most of the tenants of the Rice Creek Center who are in favor of a family amusement center. The petition is attached hereto.
