DATE: September 19, 1972
CASE NIINIBER; VN-94
APPLICANT: A 1 Anderson
LOCATION: tTest of Old Highway 8 at ita intersection with Highway 96
REQUEST: Variance from the strict application of the provisions of the
New Brighton Code Sections 12-010 and 1045:05
PLANNI2TG CONSIDERATIONS:
The proposed development of Mr. Andersons property as previously indicated
is to be a truck stop and cafe facility. Current plot plans for the
facility indicate parking spaces for approximately 25 large "semi trucks".
The strict application of the provisions of the New Brighton Zoning Code
Section 12-010, paragraph i and the New Brighton Code Section 1045:05
restricting driveways to parking areas to 24 feet and maximum driveway
width to 35 feet at the curb line respectively, will in the opinion of the
Petitioner cause a public safety problem by forcing trucks leaving the
property to cross the center line of Old Highway 8 when entering that
facility.
The petitioner requests, therefore, that the drives be allowed at a fifty
(50) foot width between the existing service station and the proposed truck
stop and a thirty-five (35) foot width north of the proposed truck stop,
to allow for safe entry and exit of large vehicles to the premises.
e
The request appears to be reasonable and in the best interests of public
safety.
