W.
New Brighton, Minnesota 55112
Re: Proposed Addition to Clinch-On-Corners
P. 0. Box 2645
50 Cleveland Avenue N. E.
New Brighton, Minnesota 55112
Comm. No. 74-29
To the City Council Members:
On behalf of my client, Mr. Harold Haines, President of Clinch-On-Corners and
pursuant to my meeting with the City Planner, Mr. Barry P. Johnson, and the City
Planning Commission last evening, we are submitting herewith this request to the
City Council asking that you set a-time for public hearing for a variance at your
August 13 council meeting for the purpose of reviewing a request for an addition
to the above referenced project and a variance to the requirement to provide concrete
curbs around all parking and maneuvering areas.
We are asking for your consideration in this matter because Mr. Haines urgently needs
to begin construction on his building as soon as possible. He has purchased a very
large piece of fabricating equipment and needs this addition to house this machinery
as well as to begin construction to produce material per contracts he has just
entered into. Obviously he would have begun this process sooner so that this
special request would not be necessary; however, he was not aware that presentation
to the Planning Commission and Council were required until he notified the City of
his intention to build. In addition, the request for variance very briefly is due
to the fact that the entire area surrounding his building is used for truck maneu-
vering which is not visible from the adjacent roadway because of-a very steep hill
and bridge in front of his property. Therefore, the concrete curb would not be
visible from the roadway or adjacent property and would just cause problems due to
the fact that the heavy truck traffic will undoubtedly be bumping into these curbs
in their maneuvering around the site.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours very truly,
KORSUNSKY KRANK ARCHITCCTS,e-INC.
ald Krank, A.I.
RK:d
cc: Harold Haines
