Public Hearing
VN-127
August 13, 1974 - 8:20 P.M.
Applicant: Harold Haines
Location: 50 Cleveland Ave.
Request: Variance from Sections 12-040 (e) and 12-060 (a)
to allow parking and driveway, areas without concrete
curbing
Ordinance Requirements Sections 12-040 (e) and 12-060 (a) state,
that all parking areas and `driveways'
shall have concrete curbs.
Number of Property Owners Within 200 feet: 4
Discussion:
Curbing is proposed to be installed only bordering the land-
scaped area in front of the building.
The applicant's feeling is that his location relative to the "
overpass prevents the area from being seen, that semi-trailers
will probably be running over and breaking the curbs anyway,
and that there is a likelihood of future expansion requiring
removal of the curb.
It seems the main function of curbing was to keep vehicles
out of landscaped areas and that since adjacent areas are to be
left in their present natural state, curbs may serve little
function here.
Planning CourAssion Consideration (7-30-74)
The Chairman read the background discussions for VN-127 and
LP-7
Ron Krank, architect, and Harold Haines were present to
answer questions.
The Board members discussed the question of whether painting
a super-graphic on the building was an architectural treatment
equal to the others specified in the ordinance.
Parham noted that the problem is the maintenance of the
painted walls.
=1-
