The petitioner agreed that the sign would have to be improved. Councilman Rebelein asked what was unique about Polynesian Village as opposed to other complexes within the City. The petitioner noted that Polynesian Village is oriented toward the Freeway, whereas other developments backed on the Freeway . Motion by Anderson, seconded by Rebelein to close hearin g 5 ayes - 0 Hayes - carried Motion by Eagon, seconded by Anderson to direct administration to prepare a resolution making certain findings of fact for the granting of a variance including: 1. The orientation of the project to the Freeway; 2. The proposed sign is in scale with the complex size; 3. The sign location on the building would work against the purpose and intent of the sign ordinance and that the resolution further indicate approval of an 8 x 16 ft sign on the Freeway on the condition that the 7th Street sign be made conforming and the sign on 10th Street be removed and replaced with a standard directional sign 5 ayes - 0 Hayes - carried Attorney stated hearing was properly called VN-142 Mr. Lee Kuluvar, representing Cricket Inn, Cricket Inn was present to answer questions. He noted that the request for the temporary addition to the billboard was no longer requested. He asked that the building sign 8:55 to be allowed to be brought into conformity within a 9:25 5-year period of time and the existing billboard within 120 days. He noted that if the variance were granted, the City would have some assurance that the signing on the property would be conforming, but without such variance there was no guarantee.
