New Brighton, Minnesota Dear Mr. .Johnson: As a final follow up to our telephone conversations in the recent weeks, I would like to now submit our for- mal request fora hearing before the New Brighton City Council. on our re- quest for a permit to erect a billboard. This request is being made jointly by the property owner, Mr. R. H. Griffis, Equipment Refinishing Service Co., 2160 West County Road D, New Brighton, Minnesota 55112, and the Cricket Inn. of Roseville, 2550 Cleveland Avenue North, Roseville, Minnesota 55113• This billboard complies to. all the ordinance requirements of the New Brighton zoning code as to construction standards, Sect. 14-070, Sect. 14-080, Sect. 14-090, Sect. 14-100, and Sect. 14-110. It also complies to the loads and stresses of Chapters 23, 25,.26, 27 and 28 of the uniform building code.. Copies of the complete construction details are attached. The location of-the billboard just north Co. Road D on the west side of I-35W complies with the zone requirements of Section 14-190 on billboard location and size. It also-has met the state requirements as to proximity of the nearest exit. Copies of a com- piete survey showing the exact. site are enclosed. In addition to conforming to all the necessary requirements we would like to point out that the sign is only facing one way north, and that it is located at the end of an existing building so that in, no way does it effect the scenic highway view. It is also a very important directional sign to aid the area visitor in Locating the new Cricket Inn. Proper lodging direction is very important to the weary traveler and gives a good community image of hospitality. Because the visitors must exit before they see the accomodating-facility, a sign In this vicinity is very essential.
