The building i.n <br />question is a building of multiple occupancy having shared entrances <br />and for purposes of signing is governed by:Section- 1^-200 (c--2) of <br />the honing Code.. Essentially, such buildings maybe identified by <br />a single ground or wall sign displaying the name of the building only, <br />and :interior activities shall be idpn'cified together on an Integra-ted <br />wall directory, The existing ground sign on the property is non- <br />conforming due~to its height, area, items of information., and because <br />it' does not identify the- building only. There are four. (z~) separate <br />wall signs-.which- are also non-conforming in relation to code: require- <br />mentse <br />The ap licants are requesting the variance_to erect three (3) signs, <br />two of which would be placed on either side of the xisting ground,. <br />sign.,. and one (1) wall sigri~ The applicants have indicated that <br />.'their warrants for requesting the variance are that 1) their cus omens <br />w~3ould have. difficulty locating their company ; 7) the pub l i.c _ image of <br />R<T Wilson Co. would be impaired;.and 3) because denial of he request <br />- would be inconsistent with. the other signs on the property. <br />Discussion: <br />The applicants are requesting a variance to erect three' (3) igns <br />to advertise their business located at 1~~05 Silver Lake. Road. .The <br />variance is-needed because there are existing non-conforming signs <br />on the property and sign permits can not be issued until a variance <br />has been approved.
