July 26, 1976
P~ir. Rodney Billman
151 Silver Lake Road
New Brighton, P•~1 5511?.
Dear Mr. Billman:
CEP,TIFIED PdAIL
At its July 13, 1976 meeting, the New Brighton Gity Council
considered the joint application of yourself, as property owner,
and the R. T. V7ilson Company for a variance from the New Brighton
Zoning Code for signs at 1403 Silver Lake Road. The Council
received a letter from you asking that the matter be continued
pending your return to New Brighton and a reply from the Brede
Advertising Company concerning a design layout. Mr. Wilson of
the R. T. Wilson Company was present and requested a temporary
solution to the problem. Tr7hile the Council indicated that they
were seeking a more permanent solution to the signing at the
above-mentioned property. They also recognized that Mr. Wilson
had an urgent need for identification of his business. Therefore,
the Council approved a temporary variance for yourself and
bir. Wilson. Specifically, the temporary variance approved will
allow the R. T. tlilson Company to erect one wall directory sign
not to exceed one square foot, to bA placed on the building, and
two 4 ft. x 8 ft. panels to be placed on either side of the
es:isting ground sign. The approval.~was granted with the follow-
ing conditions:
1. That a sign plan for the entire property be
filed within sixty (60) days or the variance
will e<cpire.
2. That if such sign plan is presented within
sixty (60) days, the variance terminates
one-hundred eighty (180) day, from its issuance.
Legal constraints of the Council required them to close the public
hearing relative to this matter in order that the temporary variance
could be approved. Therefore, when and if the sign plan is filed,
it will be necessary to do so in the form of a variance application.
