Plannirig~.Commission Consideration <br />:and Recommendation (9/21/76) <br />VN-161, Spotts International <br />The Planner reviewed his comments for the variance request, <br />non-conforming use permit and .building permit. <br />Fredrickson asked how much smaller the addition would have <br />to be to meet Floor-Area-Ratio limits. <br />Wickland stated that'the building would have to be reduced <br />by 15,0.00 square feet, <br />Mr. Larry Fisher, Mr. Donald Spotts and Mr. Donald Roux, <br />applicants, were present a answer questions. <br />Fredrickson asked the applicants if they had considered <br />building a smaller addition to meet F.A.R. .limits. <br />Mr. Roux stated that he Belt he proposed addition would <br />square off the building, would. be .more attractive and would <br />'better match. the .existing development.. Mr. Roux also indicated <br />that they do need the space. <br />Brown asked if the circular drvewould be eliminated. <br />Mre Roux .stated that. his driveway-is needed-and that the <br />Brinks trucks-frequently make iu5e of it. <br />Wickland said that he is rather hard on changing setbacks <br />or f-loot-area-ratios. <br />Partyka questions ~nzhat is really magic -about the .3 limita- <br />.Lion. <br />Wick land said that the floor-area-ratio is a good criteria <br />'for measuring density, <br />Partyka questioned what the intent of the ordinance is really <br />aging. He stated that he felt the .3 was showing an intent <br />- and that they were exceeding ,this.. number only slightly. <br />Wickland said that he would .support a motion to :change.. the <br />F.A.R. limit to .33 but that .3 is the allowed figure by <br />-ordinance. <br />Harty said that he agrees that .the .3 figure may be a magic <br />number, however, the Council has considered such requests before. <br />
