~cA~,~ Oc /C~vi'~oJ ~~~N~cT~S. , <br />June 20, 1978 -3- <br />VN-187 - Sunnyside Bible Chapel <br />The City-Planner stated that he had nothing to add to his report. <br />Mr. Lloyd Brandt, trustee for the Sunnyside Bib 1e Chapel, was <br />present to answer questions, <br />Chairman Brown noted that the placement of concrete curbing has. <br />been very consistently applied in developments throughout the <br />City. <br />Mr. Brandt stated that the Chapel-feels the curbing would be a <br />cost item that would add neither aesthetic or utility value and <br />sees no benefit in installing the curbing. Mr. Brandt stated <br />that-the Chapel has not had curbing around its existing parking <br />lot for 15 years. and that they are now considering expanding the <br />building and that if this were done, 'the new curbing 'would have, <br />to be removed. <br />:Commissioner-Brown asked if the Chapel had approached the School <br />District about using the Irondale parking lot.. <br />Mr. Brandt stated that they had-not contacted the School District, <br />but that he did not feel that was a good alternative since the <br />'' church members would not walk that far. Mr, Brandt stated that <br />they also have plans for more landscaping which would be more- <br />aesthetic than thecurbing. <br />Motion by Anderson, seconded by Brown, to waive the reading and.`` <br />adopt a RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND RECOMMENDING DENIAL <br />OF VARIANCE APPLICATION. <br />4 ayes - 0. naves - carried. <br />SP-81, Independent School District No. 621 <br />Mr. Paul Donley, representing the school district was present to <br />answer questions. <br />Chairman Brown stated that he was .well aware of the school district <br />plans and thought they were very. good. <br />Motion by Brown, seconded by Williams, to recommend approval of <br />SP-81, subject to the following conditions: <br />1. .That the special use permit. be reviewed by the City Council <br />one year after the initial approval. <br />
