n d <br />... <br />PARK BOARD: MINUTES.....:. _. <br />_._ WEDNESDAY, NdVEMBER 1, 1978 <br />I~:.The meeting was called to girder at 7:00 p.m by chair- <br />person Gunderman. <br />II. Members presents Carlson, Dahl,_Grimshaw, Gunderman, <br />Johnson,. Kern,. Council Rep. Blomquist:. Also present:. <br />Jim Winkles, Dir.' of Community Dedelapment and <br />,Mary Lynn Ditsch; <br />..Members absents Cook., Olson, Westling <br />IXI. Minutes of Octobex_4;'1,978 meeting were approved as <br />submitted, <br />IV. Correspondence - None <br />V. RCE Corp. - Park Donation - Staff reviewed the proposal. <br />After considerable discussion the Board took the following <br />action' <br />Motion by Kern, seconded by Johnson that the Board would <br />like to see the park land moved as close to 29th Ave. <br />as possible to remove it from the pool and parking lot <br />and make the park more accessible to residents west of <br />2gth and that a 15 ft. walkway be ..provided for access. <br />Motion carried: Gunderman Nay.`Gunderman stated <br />opposition to the proposal because in his perspective <br />two acres would not meet the needs of the neighborhood <br />and that he would prefer all options be explored toward <br />increasing the size to 5-7 acres. <br />Motion by Kern, seconded by Dahl that the park area be <br />expanded to 5-7 acres because two acres would not accomo- <br />date traditional facilities such as ballfields, skating <br />rinks, etc. and~that the possibility of trading existing <br />City land for additional park land on the site be explored. <br />Motion carried. <br />Ray Perron variance request. Staff reviewed the request. <br />The Board took no action on the request. Motion by <br />Carlson, seconded by Kern requesting that investigation <br />be made into the possibility of purchase or land trade <br />for both parcels lying immediately south of the park. <br />Motion carried. <br />(OVER <br />
