Northmstem BdI
200 South 5th Street
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55462
Phone (612) 344.6565
July 30, 1979,
City of New Brighton
803 5th Avenue Northwest
New Brighton,' Minnesota 55112
Attn: Ms. Joan Archer
Dear Ms. Archer:
This is to request City Council action on our attached application
for a variance.
This variance is required to provide temporary off-street parking
for Western Electric.installers and other.Telephone Company personnel during"
the installation of the new electronic switching equipment in our building
at 390 West Cleveland Avenue. Our plans call for completing the equipment
installation during the first quarter of 1981. At that time we wii,l remove
the temporary parking lot and landscape the property according-to the August.
18, 1978 site plan drawing. i have attached this drawing and another showing
the location of the temporary parking.
As we discussed in your office, we will oil the parking surface
periodically to control dust and will screen the parking lot with a redwood_
fence along the north and east sides. The fence will be constructed to match
the existing fence along our south property line. The temporary.parking lot
will provide an additional 16 parking stalls. Because of its location, it
will require two entrances from Cleveland Avenue.
We believe that this lot is necessary for the safety of our employees
and the convenience of the local people and snow removal crews. The only other
option that is readily available to us is parking on the street. We do not
feel that on-street parking is acceptable.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
V. P.
