<br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held <br />Tuesday, April 28, 1987, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmembers Brandt, Gunderman, Schmidt (Acting Mayor), and Williams <br />Absent: Mayor Benke <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: Henry Sinda, City Manager <br />Brenda Krueger, Community Development Specialist <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br />Maurie Anderson, Park and Recreation Director <br />Ken Nelson, Building Official <br />Erny Matilla, City Planner <br />Gary Berger, Administrative Assistant <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br /> <br />Announcements <br /> <br />Announcements <br /> <br />Schmidt apologized for the delay in starting the meeting (due to <br />an Executive Session held immediately prior to this Council Meet- <br />ing) and announced that he is Acting Mayor because Mayor Benke is <br />in Brighton, England, in connection with the Centennial Celebra- <br />tion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Brandt, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE APRIL 14, 1987, COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Minutes Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Schmidt, with consent of council, received the <br />Planning Commission minutes of March 17, 1987. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Motion by Brandt, seconded by Williams, to APPOINT CHARLOTTE A. <br />SAMUELSON TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION WITH A TERM TO EXPIRE <br />DECEMBER 31, 1989. <br /> <br />In response to Williams's question, Brandt indicated the Commis- <br />sion is looking at various ways to expand its role in the commun- <br />ity and believes Samuelson will be an asset to the organization. <br /> <br />III 4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br />
