HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br />MANAGER'S REVIEW/RECOMMENDATION: <br />No comments to supplement this report ~ Comments below/attached <br />EXPLANATION/SUMMARY {attach supplemental sheets as necessary): <br />To consider a request for a variance to put up a cross which will extend <br />above the roof line of an e xisting building and which also constitutes <br />a second sign. <br />BACKGROUND <br />APPLICANT: Korean United Methodist Church <br />LOCATION: 701 8th Avenue NW <br />ZONING: R-1, Single Family Residential <br />PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION : On May 24, 7983 the Council approved <br /> a special use permit (SP-111) to allow <br /> for the former Community Resource Center <br /> to be used as a church. <br />CURRENT SIGNING: A sign permit has been approved to put <br /> up a sign with the name of the church in <br /> English and Korean letters. The sign will <br /> be located directly adjacent to the front <br /> door. Iron letters will be used and <br /> attached directly to the building. <br />PROPOSED SIGNING: The applicant is proposing to attach a 15 <br /> foot iron cross to the building see attach- <br /> ed diagram).
