March. 26, 1981
To : New Brighton Park Boar,~d~.
From.: Maurice H. Ander '~~~'=erector Park and Recreation
Re: New Brighton Historical Society Request
The New Brighton Historical Society has requested use of a
small portion of Long Zake Park (see attached).
The area requested is fairly small and is presently unused.
It has been. designated as a family camping area on the approved
concept plan for the park.
The request from the Society is to enter the park with a car
.and trailer and exclusive cultivation and harvest rights. I
don't see any problem with granting permission to use the
rhubarb if it is on a yearly basis. I do not feel that the
use should be allowed, at least at that location, once the
park is developed. As to the request for permission to .enter
with a car and trailer, I_ again. see no problem with granting.
permission to enter City land on a yearly basis. It should
be clearly understood that the City cannot grant permission
to cross either Ramsey County open space land, the land owned
by Dick Bury or the railroad.
In summary, if we grant permission, I feel that it should be
granted only on a yearly basis and with our limitations on
access clearly deliniated.
attach.
