The Conununity Education and Community Services Departments <br />offer activities primarily for adult residents in the areas o~ con- <br />tinuing education, early childhood and family education, parent-child <br />craft and game activities, business education, communication and lang- <br />uage, investment planning, creative activities (crafts), home improve- <br />ments, painting and drawing, sewing, needlepoint, kitchen arts, cut- <br />teal cooking, dance and. exercise, health education, dog grooming, <br />guitar, scuba diving,. photography, music education, cross country <br />skiing, wilderness survival, fishing classes, and various youth pro- <br />. grams; i.e. downhill ski program, swinuning,clowning and ventriloquism. <br />PROGRAM OB3FCTIVES <br />Development of a new summer youth activities program, to replace <br />existing playground program. <br />Development of more family oriented activities/classes, open-ended <br />programs, special events. <br />Development of a "more" balanced overall program offering. Attempt <br />to equalize opportunities for "Athletic" and "Cultural" activities. <br />Development of a policy for sanctioning and supporting athletic <br />organizations for which the Department provides publicity and facilities. <br />Develop adult athletic associations to handle adult leagues with <br />the Department continuing to offer less structured athletic programs. <br />Increase program offerings without increasing Department/tax payers <br />cost through mare joint programming efforts. <br />Increase use of non-school facilities where possible to avoid <br />school conflicts. <br />Development of continual updated clearing house of information <br />related to leisure-time pursuit. <br />~~ Develop volunteer training program, coaches training program. <br />
