November 4, 1981 Park Board Minutes Page 6 <br />Dahl said Ken Simons is doing a good job. <br />Grimshaw said he has concerns because some Lakeshore people said <br />they have been driven out of the Long Lake Improvement meetings <br />because of their opposing view. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Human Rights Commission Presentation <br />Schmidt spoke for a representative from the Human Rights who <br />could not be present. The commission just wanted the Park Board <br />to keep in mind the needs of the handicapped as parks are developed. <br />B. December Meeting Date <br />Anderson stated he had a conflict with the regular scheduled date. <br />Gunderman did a so. The meeting was changed to Thursday, December <br />10th at the Brightwood Hills Clubhouse. <br />C. Turkey Trot <br />Pam Schmitz was present and briefly explained that the Department <br />was having a fun run at Hansen Park on November 21st and wanted <br />the Park Board's opinion of the event and route it will .take. <br />Schmitz said the best average score of the run for a family .will <br />win a turkey. The worst time gets a rubber chicken. The run is <br />3 kilometers (about one mile). Wil check with the Police Chief. <br />also. There will be individual awards and there will be different <br />age group divisions. <br />Johnson suggested recording the age groups participating for <br />future runs. <br />Schmitz said the run will begin at 9:30 a.m. :Family registration <br />is $5.00. We advertise for residents but will not deny non-residents, <br />Gunderman asked if anyone objected to the activity. There were <br />no objections, <br />Gunderman stated.. that at the "Meet the .Candidates" session there <br />was a comment that the Park Board didn't use funds people had <br />donated. <br />Anderson asked Gunderman if he should send Levitan a copy of a letter <br />which the Park Board-received fr-om the PTew Brighton.L.ons Club <br />stating the money would be available March 1, 1983. <br />Gunderman. said yes. <br />VI. Old Business <br />A. Criteria for Use of Donations <br />Dahl stated that one of her criteria was absent from the list. <br />Add: Item should be non-consumable and at least 5 year life <br />expectancy. <br />
