NEW BRIGHTON PAP,K BOARD MEETING
. :_. _w .._ _ AUGUST 13, 1:981 rv
•
I. .Meeting was called to order by acting Chairperson Dahl. '
II. Members present : Carlson, Dahl, Hogan, Johnson, Olson, Solberg
Members absent: Grimshaw, Gunderman, Van Hatten, Council Rep.
Schmidt
III. Minutes of July:I and July 15, 1981 Meeting
Minutes of July l were approved as submitted. Dahl made clarifi-
cation to her motion in the July 15 minutes stating her intention
of the motion was to recommend to .the Council approval of the
initial Joint Powers Agreement. Some Park Board members were under
the impression that she was referring to an amended Joint Powers
Agreement.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Anderson gave the report saying the Long Lake Joint Powers
Agreement was approved. Polzak submitted a letter of points
of clarification. The Council felt there were adequate safe-
• guards with the transfer of land occurring later.
Johnson said it can stop if the land is transferred but what
if the Joint Powers Agreement drags on.
Anderson said the Master Plan has to be developed first. The
Master Plan is the key document. Council voted 5-0 in favor
of the Joint Powers Agreement and are ready to get on to the
next step.
Anderson stated that it was rather humorous that the statement
at the end of the agreement relating to the expiration date,
that the Park-Board was so concerned with, was put in by the
County in case the City wanted to back out of its responsibility
with policing, etc. Ramsey County can't back out because it is
being charged with operation of the park. The Council approved
the playground equipment for Sunny Square. We will have layout
in September for the Park Board to look at before the whole thing
is-put together. It includes sunshelters, equipment, benches, etc.
The old play equipment has been removed.
Carlson asked if it was Earl F. Anderson who received the bid.
Anderson said yes.
Hogan asked when it would be installed.
Anderson said mid-October.
