.. :,.> ..
;,~:
r
February 3,1981 Park Board Minutes Page 5
Dahl thought maybe a "yes" or "no"; would be_appropriate.
• Johnson noticed there are no trails.. Should it be noted some
where that this is the case. - ,
Anderson said there was one trail at Sunny Square and that
maybe the heading "trails" should ,be .added as more will eventually
be added,,
Van Hatten suggested adding the acres to the parks on the
facilities and parks page. That way he's able to see how the
park is being utilized as far as its acreage is concerned.
After Park Board discussion as to'where the information should
be added, it was decided it would be added to the inventory
page . ~ -
Anderson commented that. the next pages came intact from the
City's Comprehensive Plan which-was officially adopted at the
last Council meeting. Anderson said he would like to stay with
the same format but if .there was concern with language, it
could be changed. .The Park and Recreation Comprehensive Plan
will become an adendum to the City's Comprehensive Park Plan.
Anderson commented that the Mayor stated it would be possible
to make changes in the City Plan before i't goes to Metro
• Council. .Schmidt said that was .correct.
Dahl asked how this related to the Park Board's goals and-
- objectives. _ •
Anderson said these have to be reconciled. The Board requested
extensive reworking of this section.
Johnson requested that under "Existing Conditions and Needs"
in the third paragraph, the words:"the elementary" be deleted.
He would like it to apply to al1•schools. Park Board .agreed.
Carlson felt that the set of criteria that was ;discussed at
previous meetings regarding minimum park size, etc. is missing.
Dahl. felt that the goals stated were old. The Park Board's
intention is to restate ;some goals n_terms of what we have
i'n t'he community at the present. ~ , '
Carlson and Dahl agreed that what was done previously Sby Gunderman
regarding philosophy should be reflected in this section.
Anderson responded that the reason it wasn't; was because it was
his ;understanding that; it was never officially adopted.
Dahl` said she understood that things would be put, in one at a
time, during the work on the Comprehensive Plan.
Carlson was concerned with a statement under the "Implementation"
section referring to tax forfeited land. Does the Park Board
want that in the plan?
