INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NQ. 282
ST. ANTHONY..- NEVV BRIGHTON
3903 - 33no AVENUE NOpTNEAST, MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA 55416`
March 26, 1980
Morrie Anderson
New Brighton Park and Recreation
1975 Silver Lake Road
New Brighton, Minnesota 55112
Dear Morrie:
I would like to follow-up our recent discussion regarding the playground equipment
located on the Silver Oak Schaal property with a recommendation for consideration
by the New Brighton City Council and appropriate staff, This consideration should
be considered separate from formal termination of the joint powers agreement between
the City of New Brighton and School Qistrict #282.
The school district purchased the swing set and vita-course equipment prior to
initiation of the joint powers agreement. The two new pieces of equipment were
purchased as part of the joint powers agreement, with money from both the school
district and the city.
It would seem to be more efficient to leave the play area at Silver Oak intact
and for the City to reimburse the school district for its original contribution
to development of the area. The alternative would be for the school district
to remove certain pieces of equipment to other sites and for the City to purchase
and install other pieces of equipment in those vacated areas, which would appear
to be a less-efficient option that would not be cost-effective for the parties
involved.
Therefore, I am proposing
School District #282 for
the school district would
Oak School to the City of
solution to this question
the situation.
that the City of New Brighton donate $2000.00 to
equipment purchase at other district sites. In exchange,
give ownership of all playground equipment at Silver
New Brighton. This appears to be an equitable re-
and would certainly be the most efficient way to handle
If you have any questions please call me at your convenience,
Sincerely,
Tom McMu/l l en
cc: Dr. Ness
