August 13, 1980 Park Board Minutes Pa.ge.4 <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Carlson, to recommend Plan C and <br />and make the .southern lot a complete circle. <br />Van Hatten emended ,.seconded by Dahl, to change the circular lot <br />to a rectangular parking area. Amendment passed. Gunderman and <br />Carlson naye. <br />Anderson commented that both .lots should. be made equal in car spaces. <br />Hogan asked if curbing would be put in. <br />Anderson stated curbing is on-the original plan (down the middle). <br />The trees could be put down the middle of the second lot if rectangular. <br />Carlson stated there is no middle parking on-the circular drawing <br />which is better for safety reasons. <br />Vote on main motion, 5 ayes, Gunderman naye <br />Van Hatten commented that a dual entrance/exit should be reconsidered <br />and that the Mayor is in favor of the dual entrance and feels that's <br />the only way to do it. Van Hatten feels that perhaps it__s.hQUld be <br />reconsidered. <br />Gunderman stated that the residents that live there didn':t want it. <br />Motion by Van Hatten, seconded by Johnson, to reconsider dual entrance <br />for purpose of discussion. Van Hatten, Johnson ayes, others abstained. <br />Motion passed. <br />Resident Sylvester stated she didn't feel it could be brought up again.. <br />Van Hatten said the Park Board did favor one entrance but. it~~can be <br />brought up again. <br />Dahl asked if there was any new information regarding the dual en- <br />trance.. <br />Johnson asked if any of the others parks have a dual entrance. <br />Anderson stated Freedom is :the only one but it's very different. <br />Van Hatten stated .that the object of the dual entrance is to slow <br />traffic down before it goes into the lot... <br />Van Hatten suggested and entrance further up the street (south}:and <br />put a few. curves to slow traffic down. Single entrance mid-block, <br />exit where it is. Van Hatten asked what is the objection to mid- <br />block entrance. <br />Sylvester stated 5th Street is not high.. speed street. The main <br />objection is that it is much narrower and while making a left hand <br />turn into the park, cars will be shaving the corner. She feels it <br />is a definite problem. <br />
