NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />APRIL 2, 1980 <br />I. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gunderman at 7:35 p.m. <br />II. Members present: Dahl, Gr_imshaw, Gunderman, Hogan, Johnson, Van Hatten, <br />Westling. Carlson and Olson arrived late. <br />Council Members: Benke, Janecek, Schmidt, and Mayor Jim Senden <br />Present <br />Council Member Blomquist <br />Absent <br />III. Minutes of March 5, 1980 meeting were approved as written. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Independent School District #282 Re: Play Equipment at Silver Oaks <br />Anderson stated he received a call from Tom McMullen, Director <br />of Community Services in St. Anthony, regarding play equipment <br />at Silver Oak School. The School District has paid 1/4 of the <br />cost of the play equipment, or approximately $1,000. The re-~ <br />quest from the School District is that in lieu of the play <br />equipment, the City give $2,000. Anderson stated that is his <br />recommendation. He said the City would be retaining equipment <br />purchased and gaining equipment that was they previously, but <br />would be paying $2,000 to the School District-for its share of <br />the purchase. <br />Johnson stated he was in favor of this. Dahl agreed. Grimshaw <br />also is in favor. <br />Motion by Johnson, seconded by Dahl, to recommend that the $2,000 <br />be given to School District #282 for the play equipment. Motion <br />passed. <br />B. Letter from Bernie Edmonds-Ramsey County <br />Anderson mentioned he had received a letter from Bernie Edmonds.,. <br />along with a draft joint powers agreement for operation and <br />maintenance of the Long Lake/Rush Lake Park. The draft is <br />essentially in conformance with .the Park Board's recommendation <br />in June of 1979. <br />Gunderman asked if a user fee could be charged. <br />Anderson stated that no formal approval was needed at this point. <br />All Ramsey County wanted at this point were language changes and <br />clarification from the attorney and staff. The proposal will <br />come back to the City after it's been cleaned up. Anderson <br />stated he was pleased to see there is movement from the County <br />to resolve this project. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Council/Park Board Discussion <br />Benke felt that from the joint Park Board/Council meeting last <br />fall it was apparent that. there has to be talk between the boards <br />
