r • • <br />Population and Demographic Characteristics <br />The population of Blaine is 28,500 residents (August 1977). As the population throughout much of <br />the Metropolitan area will stabilize, the population in Blaine will continue to grow. In the next five <br />years, due to both currently planned and possible housing developments, the city could increase <br />by as many as 2000 residents per year. Blaine has a very young ,population. The 1974 Metropolitan Transit Commission study <br />found that the Blaine/Coon Rapids district has the youngest population of any of the 30 metro <br />district divisions. The average age of Blaine residents is 24.3 years. An age distribution based on <br />1970 census follows: <br />.r
