The current plan was adopted in December 1974. .The <br />Council, with the help of the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space <br />Commission, is beginning work on a new plan. <br />Enclosed is a staff report prepared for the Metropolitan Parks and <br />Open 'Space Commission. The paper summarizes some of the most <br />significant issues that need to be discussed as part of the revision <br />process. <br />We are also very interested in other perspectives. We are planr_ing <br />a public participation process to encourage other views and provide <br />a forum for discussion of issues related to the regional park plan. <br />As a first step, we invite you to attend a briefing of governmental <br />agency and local-government officials scheduled for Tuesday, <br />August 28, at 7:30 p.m..in the Council offices. <br />.,. <br />We will also be meeting individ•,la1ly with the regional park <br />implementing agencies. <br />The briefings will include a presentation on what has happened in the <br />regional park area during the last five years and a discussion of <br />alternative approaches to problems . There wi.1.I be an opportunity for <br />general discussion. We invite you to write put and transmit your <br />thoughts to us either before,. at, or no Iat~r-than seven days after <br />-the briefing. This will give us an opportunity to respond to the <br />points you raise. _ <br />We intend to provide additional. ways for you to-participate in the <br />plan revision. The retropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission •,ai~l <br />be discussing the matter,at each of its meetings,-which are, of course, <br />open to the public. A public hearing on the plan is to be held-later <br />this year. Prior to the hearing, five informational meetings are to <br />be held at various locations in"the 2etropolitan Area to discuss the <br />plan and answer questions.
