April 26, 1979 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING SURFACE USE OF LONG LAKE The Council of the City of New Brighton does hereby ordain as follows: Section 1. Chapter 19 of the New Brighton City Code is hereby amended by adding thereto Article III, Long Lake Surface Use which shall read as follows: Sec. 19-30. Definitions. For the purposes of this Chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meaning respectively ascribed to them: Wake: Is any disturbance of the water caused by a motor-powered watercraft operating in excess of closed throttle or in excess of 5 MPH. No Wake: Is the disturbance in the water, if any, caused by non-motorized watercraft or motorized watercraft operating at closed throttle. Watercraft: Motorized Vehicle: Sec. 19-31. No Wake Zones. a. A no wake zone is hereby established on the sur- face of Long Lake to cover all waters within 100 feet of the shoreline except as modified by author- ized bouys. b. A no wake zone is established over the entire lake when the water elevation of the lake is 866 feet or more above mean sea level. c. A no wake zone is established over the entire lake from 10:00 p.m. on Friday of each weekend through 7:00 a.m. on Monday- except during the hours of 1:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. on each Saturday and 1:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. on each Sunday. d. A no wake zone is established over the entire lake on all legal holidays commencing at 10:00 p,m. on the evening preceding the observed holiday and terminating at 7:00 a.m. on the day following the observed holiday; except that period of time be- tween 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the observed holiday. Sec. 19-32. Prohibited Wake. No person shall operate a motor-powered watercraft in the no wake zone in such a manner as will create a wake. Sec. 19-33. Boat Launching. No person shall launch a boat or beach a watercraft other than at designated areas or on private property with the owner's permission. -1-
