<br />~. <br />PARK BOARD MIrTUTES <br />WEDI~TESDAY, I~7AY 2, 1979 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7x30 p.m. by Chairperson <br />Gunderman. <br />II. All members were present <br />III. Minutes of the April meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. A gifts catalog handbook was distributed; to be dis- <br />cussed at a future meeting. <br />v° A. Long Lake Surface Use Ordinance <br />Ellen Dahl and George Carlson reviewed the ordinance and <br />the changes made in response to citizen input. Other sub- <br />committee members were Jim Borgstrom and Al Levitan. Pro- <br />posed changes were discussed including raising the .level <br />at which the lake caould be closed from 866 to 8E6.5. <br />Moticn by Dahl, seconded by Grimshaw that the recommened <br />level be 866.5. <br />Carlson stated that he felt that the committee's recommend- <br />ation_should b.e followed and suggested an ammendment that <br />the recommended increase in elevation be subject to the <br />committee°s approval. Motion as ammended carried. <br />Motion by Carlson, seconded by Dahl that the ordinance as <br />revised be sent to the Council for consideration. r2otion <br />carried. (See attached ordinance.) <br />B. Rice Creek Regional Trail <br />Staff explained that this trail has been discussed since <br />1973 but that Ramsey County has not actively pursued it <br />due to expected opposition from New Brighton residents. <br />The County is being requested by Metro Council to secure <br />New Brighton approval in order that Anoka County can pro- <br />ceed with acquisition of its segment of the trail. <br />The Board agreed to hold an information meeting with the <br />Planning Commission, E.Q.C. and interested residents <br />May 16th, 8:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. <br />(OVER} <br />
