1
f~
December. 29, 1977
To: Vernon Pederson, City Manager
From; Maurice H. Anderson, Director Park and Recreation
Re: Long Lake. Park Concept Plan
Attached are concept plans for the development of Long Lake
Park and a brief summary of the .plan. -Also included is a
bikewayplanshowing the relationship of the trails system
in the ,park to the proposed Ramsey County bikeway system.
The Park Board has completed almost a year of public meetings
and discussion of various options for development. The Board,
at 'its December 7th meeting, approved the attached plan. Thee.-
onlysignificant opposition to the .proposed plan has been
`from Lakeshore residents who oppose additional boat traffic
`on the lake.
At the suggestion of Mayor Senders, we are planning to place thee:
plan on the January 24th agenda for consideration at that time.
We are :intending to run a copy of the proposed plan in the
bulletin at least a week prior to the 24th.
The Ramsey County Open Space staff has prepared several large
colored graphics of the plan which were not practical to
duplicate". These are on file at the Park and Recreation
Office should anyone wish to examine them.
J
attach.
