' ~... PARK BOARD MINUTES March 2, 1977 2 I. Park Board_meeting was called to order at.8:03 p.m. by Chairperson: Gunderman II .` Board members present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Kern and West~,irg. Board members absent: Smith. SIL. Minutes of February 9, 197? meeting were approved as submitted. IV. Correspondance - None. V. , Unf3.~shed Business' Long Lake Park Planning -Chairperson Gunderman noted that he had received several questions from Councilmen regarding a timetable for Long .'Lake Planning. It was further noted that the Park Board had devised a schedule at its January 1977 meeting but that the Board would be willing to devise a more definitive schedule, as _ it~was needed. Staff reported that the proposed Joint Powers Agreement with Ramsey County might.. help clarify the issue. Staff reviewed a xough draft of an informational brochure and questionnaire to be sent to all city residents. This brochure. would be designed to stimulate interest in the planning process and to announce a series of neighborhood meetings on planning the park., Street Vacation - Staff reviewed past efforts to have the street vacated and discussed the potential implications to the park. Motion by Dahl, seconded by Kern that the vacation be recommended 'for deniai•based on the feeling of the Board that it was not in the best interest of the park system. Motion carried. Brightwood Hills Golf Course A~delegation of axea homeowners presented the Board with oral information regarding potential funding possibilities for purchase and operation of the course. The Board informed the group that they remained supportive. of the concept of City ownership of the course but would take no action until requested by the Council. VI. New Business Park Land-Purchase (Rush Lake area) by Ramsey County - Staff reviewed the proposed acquisition. Motion by Kern, seconded by Dahl that the Board recommends approval of the purchase.. Motion carried.
