-. <br />PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />August ~, 1976 <br />I. The meeting was called to order by Act~.ng Ch~?.rperson De.hT at <br />8°00 p.m. <br />II. Park Board members present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Kern, Smith, <br />Sullivan, Weissman and Council Representative Senden. <br />IIT. Minutes of the duly 7, 1976 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV: Correspondancee From the New Brighton Sportsmen's Club offering <br />to purchase equipment for the park system. <br />V. Unfinished Businesso Capital Improvements Plan <br />Staff reviewed the timetable far the submission of the Capital <br />Improvements Plan, Council Representative Senden explained <br />to the Board that the Board should carefully examine the guide- <br />lines for prioritization of Capital Improvement projects. He <br />further stated that the Board had the greatest opportunity for <br />input. into the plan by making recommendations regarding the <br />guidelines.. <br />The Board recommended the following adjustments in the current <br />plan: <br />Aesthetics -~ No recommendations. <br />Special-Use Facilities - Motion by Kern, seconded by Dahl to <br />inc u e , 'or ballfield renovation at Totem Pole Park <br />in 1977• Motion carries. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Smith to include $3,000.00 for <br />renovation of free-skating area at Totem Pole Park in 1977. <br />Motion carries. <br />Motion by -Gunderman, seconded by Smith to include $30,000.00 for <br />tennis courts at Totem Pole Park in 1978. Motion carries. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Cook to expand $7,500.00 in 1977 <br />to purchase additional playground equipment at Hansen, Totem FQIe, <br />Sunny Square, Freedom and Veterans Parks. Motion carries. <br />Motion by Smith, seconded by TnTeissman to place lighted athletic <br />field in 1978 and increase amount to $80,000.00, with no site <br />designation. Motian carries. <br />VI. New Businesso Hidden Oaks Park <br />Staff presented to the Board drawings of proposed improvements <br />to the easterly portion of Hidden Oaks Park. The Board <br />suggested that a meeting be held with residents of the area to <br />seek input. <br />
