~n+r~' <br />PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />November 5, 1975 <br />T. Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gunderman at 8:00 p.m. <br />II. Roll call.•• Present: Dahl, Gunderman, Smith, Sullivan and <br />Weissman. Absent: Cook and Jasinski. <br />III. Minutes of October 1, 1975 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. CQrrespondance <br />a. A presentation of the Gold Medal Award was made to Chair- <br />person Gunderman. <br />b. The Board was informed that Metro Council. had given a high <br />priority ranking to the City's application for funding <br />development at the Vermont Park site. <br />V. a. Policy for Naming Parks <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Smith that the Board adopt the <br />following policy for naming parks. Motion carried ~-0. <br />Neighborhood Parks <br />a. Names should be selected early in the planning process, <br />with input at the time of neighborhood meetings. <br />b. Names would preferably be descriptive of the location <br />and should be meaningful to those who will be using them. <br />c. Neighborhood parks should not be named after a person. <br />d. Park names would be submitted by the Park Board to the <br />City Council for approval. <br />Community or Special-Use Parks <br />a. Parks should be named early in the planning process. <br />b. Could be named after or include in name some geographic <br />characteristics. <br />c. Could be named after a person only if a significant <br />dedication has been shown by this person toward parks <br />and recreation. <br />d. Park names would be submitted by the Park Board to the <br />City Council for approval. <br />
