SUMMER RECREATION ACTIVITIES <br />SUMMARY REPORT <br />Summer Playgrounds: .Operated five locations for seven weeks, six hours <br />.each day totaling 876 hours of :activities. Total attendan~,e was 1.9,223. <br />-Playgrounds took two major trps;:App1e River (120), `wins game-(45) and <br />.had a special events 'day at Veterans Park (250). <br />,, <br />Arts- and' Grafts: Operated at all playgrounds by playground leaders. Met <br />twice a week for six weeks_on Tuesdays and. Thursdays .. Farticipants made <br />small ''individual' crafts including pendants,- plaster mo~.ad~;,etc.. Total <br />attendance was 910. <br />Music 'and Dramatics: New activity available through each playground for <br />one hour each week. Participants learned to have fun with music and <br />learned some dramatic techniques. ~Pota1 attendance was,'336.- <br />Fun for Tots; Activity .for ~-5 ,year. olds. Held at Hansen Park on <br />Fridays. 2-~$~-participanas, total participationwas,153, Children learned <br />to socialize and crafts, games. <br />T-Ball: Children 6-8 years old at dour park sites. Total registration <br />was 310. Met sixteen ,times.at each site for.total participation of 3,95. <br />Gir1~s Softball: Ages 9-1~-. Ten teams with::total of 102 girls, total <br />par zcipation was 98~. Girls ;played teams from surrounding, communities. <br />Twiring~Tykes; For .children 3-5'years.old,'instructed by Joy„Shockley <br />at Hansen `and reedom Parks. 'Met once a week in the morning.. 27 partici~ <br />pants with total. participation of 21.6. <br />Baton: Children 6-1~ years old; Held at Hansen and Freedom Parks. 26 <br />_participants.with total participation of 19~~. <br />Golf' -- Youth: New `activity for' children, met at Highview Jr.'`` High.' and <br />Brigh woad Hills Golf C`QUrse. ;8 participants with total participation <br />of ~2. <br />Golf - Adult: For :adults 16 and over, classes met at Highview Jr High <br />and Fridley Driving Range. 29, participants, total participation was 12~.,' <br />Open Gyms; Total :attendance was 1~+8. Held two nights each week`~at <br />Highview Jr. High and Irondale High`Schools. <br />
