<br />PARR BOARD MTNUrES <br />October 1, 1975 <br />I. Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gunderman at 8:00 p.m. <br />II. Roll call -.Present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Jasinski, Smith, <br />Sullivan and Tnreissman. <br />III. Minutes of the September 3, 19?5 meeting were approved as <br />submitted. <br />IV, There was no corres~pondance. <br />V, Policy for Naming Parks - No report from Committee. <br />DTI. League of Women Voters - Dana Brandt of the New Brighton League <br />of Women Voters presented the Board with the following positions <br />LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS PARK POSITION <br />April - 1975 <br />The League of tidomen Voters of New Brighton supports these goals for parks <br />and open space in New Brighton. <br />1. Providing opportunities for citizen involvement in all phases of <br />parks, including planning, development and continuing operation. <br />2. Working to set aside sufficient open space within New Brighton (as <br />defined by current national resources, recreation and other amenities.. <br />3, Considering the natural environment when planning and develop3,,ng <br />parks and open space --- protecting land, air and water quality <br />during and after development and protecting some areas from develop- <br />ment where necessary or desirable. <br />~. Cooperating in joint planning, development and operation when this <br />would help accomplish the above goals and benefit the residents of <br />New Brighton. <br />In additions the League of ?omen Voters supports: <br />Neighborhood parks which are more developed than larger parks and which <br />place more emphasis on active recreation,° a continued emphasis an a <br />planting program and landscaping for neighborhood parks. <br />Larger parks which are left more undeveloped and serve to preserve and <br />protect the natural environment. Such parks should be funded by a <br />variety of funding sources and outside funds for these pPOjects should <br />be actively sought. <br />A varied park and recreation program which provides activities for every <br />type of resident and coordinates its services with other groups pro- <br />viding similar services. <br />
