Park Board meeting was called to order by Chairman Gunderman at <br />8000 p.m. <br />II. All present except Jasinski. <br />III. Minutes of May 7th meeting were corrected by deleting Ed Bader and <br />Harlan Downing from list of those in attendance at meeting. <br />IV. Chairman Gunderman read a letter from Ntichael Anderson questioning <br />procedures used. in setting up sport diving class. The Board ex- <br />pressed its c`L~>'~r~ani ra ~'i.ni~ ~,,r r~r _ Anderson's concern. Motion by <br />Gunderman, seconded by Dahl to accept letter. <br />V. <br />a. Capital Improvements Plan deferred to later in the meeting. <br />b. Human Rights Commission Report on Youth. No report -- action <br />deferred. <br />c. Ditch ~2 Study. No report - action deferred. <br />d. ScYiool Ballf fields. Chairman Gunderman called the Board's attention. <br />to the condition of ballfields at Pike Lake School. Nlotion by <br />Cook, seconded by Dahl to request the park maintenance staff to <br />grade donated fill. Motion carried. Smith initiated a discussion <br />on suitability of various kinds of fill materials for infields. <br />e. .29th Avenue - Sullivan questioned rationale for not vacating 29th <br />Avenue in the proposed park. Discussion that followed reiterated <br />the feeling that there was no overwhelming eVid~nce in favor of <br />vacating the street and that should additional evidence become <br />available, the matter could again be raised. <br />f. Policy-for .naming parks - motion by Sullivan, seconded by Dahl <br />to request staff to prepare a working draft of a policy for naming <br />parks for consideration at a future meeting. Motion carried. <br />g. Ramsey County Open Space Policy Plan - The Board discussed the plan <br />and indicated general agreement viith the plan. Smith felt that <br />special use parks, as defined in the plan, should in some instances <br />be developed by municipalities. Dahl requested that the minutes <br />show that the Board had some questions about the policy and that <br />they had not had a great deal of time to study it. <br />VI. <br />a. "Community-A-Fair" - Motion by Sullivan, seconded by ti^1e3.ssman that <br />the Board and Department participate in the event. Motion carried.. <br />Dahl stated that we should try to involve persons in the event who <br />are participating in our programs. <br />b. Department Report - Registration for summer activities was reported <br />at an all time high. Bids are now being accepted for sitework on <br />
