PARK BOARD MEETING <br />April 2, 1975 <br />Board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gunderman at 8:00 p.m. <br />Board members present: Cook, Dahl, Gunderman, Jasinski, Smith, Sullivan, <br />Weissman and Council Representative Eagon. <br />Board members absent:. None.. <br />Others present: Loren Balfany and Donald Metzger, representatives <br />from the Moundsview~Athletic Association; Maurie Anderson, Director <br />and Charles Corlett, Assistant Director of New Brighton Parks and <br />Recreation Department. <br />Minutes of the February 5, 1975 board meeting were received and approved. <br />Easter Seal "Bike-A-Thon" <br />The Minnesota Easter Seal Society has been given permission by the <br />Department to conduct a "Bike-A-Thon" on Saturday, May 17th through <br />Hansen Park with usage of shelter building for the activity. <br />Moundsview Athletic Association <br />Loren Balfany and Donald Metzger appeared before the Board to question <br />if the New Brighton Park and Recreation Department would do anything <br />to improve ball fields located on school property. The Board was <br />unable to give assurance that assistance would be given, as no money <br />was budgeted. It was suggested that the MVAA contact the schools and <br />attempt to obtain assistance from them because it was school property. <br />Board further stated that they would send a letter to Barry Bauer <br />indicating their support. It was also stated that the Board felt that <br />our own parks needed improvement on ball fields. ~_ ... <br />Bicentennial Appointment <br />Ellen Dahl was appointed the Park~Board's representative on the New <br />Brighton Bicentennial Committee, with Marty Sullivan as alternate. <br />Long Lake/Rush Lake Update <br />Department conveyed a request to the Park Board for guidelines to be <br />used in negotiations with Ramsey County Open Space staff for develoynment <br />and operai~ion of the site. The Board indicated the feeling that the <br />City of New Brighton should remain in control of the Long Lake site and <br />that they would prefer involvement in the Rush Lake site as well and <br />directed staff to keep them informed of subsequent negotiations. <br />
